Mainsoft Announces Technology Preview of Lotus Connections Integration with Rational Jazz

Milpitas, Calif. - December 15, 2009 - IBM development partner Mainsoft® Corporation today announced a technology preview of IBM Lotus® Connections integration with IBM Rational® Team Concert. Developed in collaboration with IBM Lotus® and IBM Rational®, the software enables Team Concert developers to quickly identify, connect with, and exchange ideas with a wide community of enterprise stakeholders. Users have direct access to Lotus Connections blogs, wikis, communities, activities, profiles and more from within the development environment In the near future, this technology will also support the social networking features of Microsoft® Office® SharePoint® Server.

According to Yaacov Cohen, CEO of Mainsoft, "Enterprise social software has the potential to help development teams take a quantum leap in innovation and agile development. Instead of working in an information silo, or struggling with a technical issue that someone else may have already solved, enterprise developers can solicit feedback during ongoing communications with IT and business stakeholders, partners, and end users as well as access community resources. Our software encourages developers to adopt social software by integrating it into the IDE, where they spend most of their workday."

From the Team Concert Web user interface, the technology preview provides integrated access to Lotus Connections, enabling developers to:

  • Access a person's full profile, including their photo, reporting structure, contact details, the time zone they work in, and information about the person's expertise, areas of interest, and what they're working on at the moment, by hovering over their name. Lotus Connections profiles are synced automatically with Jazz profiles.
  • Find technical and business contacts across the enterprise based on their experience, skills, or key relationships.
  • Microblog ideas and post real-time status updates from the Jazz dashboard and from a work item.
  • Find out what's happening in their community blogs, wikis, and activities from the Jazz dashboard. With a single click, publish Jazz work items as Lotus Connections activities, for better visibility and coordination with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Search community bookmarks to locate popular resources across the enterprise.

According to Michael Loria, vice president of business development, IBM Rational Software, "By working closely with Mainsoft, IBM Rational and IBM Lotus are making it easy for developers to exchange experiences, thoughts, and ideas with technical and business experts throughout the enterprise - boosting collaboration and agility in the software delivery process."
