Rational uses Mainsoft's Visual MainWin to accelerate delivery of Rational Rose and Rational Rose RealTime on Unix
Visual MainWin enables Rational's developers to focus on enhancing its software development solutions, not writing cross-platform code
San Jose, Calif. July 10, 2002 - Mainsoft Corporation today announced that Rational Software
has used Mainsoft's Visual MainWin to accelerate the delivery of its leading visual modeling tools,
Rational Rose and Rational Rose RealTime, to Unix developers.
Visual MainWin is an application porting platform that enables application software developers to
write code on Windows and port that code rapidly to Unix. Visual MainWin is a complete cross-platform
solution from development to deployment. It actually recompiles Windows source code with the Unix
compilers to create native Unix applications.
Visual MainWin has helped Rational release the latest versions of Rational Rose and Rational Rose
RealTime for multiple Unix platforms, without needing to maintain an extensive team of
Unix developers. Rational Rose and Rational Rose RealTime are now available on Windows,
Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Linux. Additional information on Rational Rose and Rational Rose
RealTime is available at http://www.rational.com/products/rose.
"Mainsoft's cross-platform solution has enabled our developers to concentrate on developing new
features and functionality for Rational Rose and Rational Rose RealTime, instead of rewriting
code for multiple platforms," said Bill Taylor, director of product marketing at Rational.
"The use of Visual MainWin has allowed Rational to better address the cross-platform development
challenge."
"Mainsoft is built on long term partnerships that deliver significant business value to our
customers year-after-year," said Yaacov Cohen, President and CEO of Mainsoft Corporation.
"Our long-standing relationship with market leader, Rational, clearly helps validate this model."
