Mainsoft provides cross-platform support to Microsoft Visual Studio
Mainsoft participates in the Microsoft Visual Studio Integration Program (VSIP) to develop cross-platform products tightly integrated with Visual Studio
ORLANDO, Fla. (Microsoft PDC, Booth 328) -
July 11, 2000 - Mainsoft Corporation today announced its participation
in the Microsoft Visual Studio Integration Program.
This program enables Mainsoft to access Microsoft engineers and the
source code required to seamlessly integrate its MainWin product into
Visual Studio. Mainsoft's flagship technology, MainWin, is a Windows
platform for Unix and Linux, which allows developers to recompile and link
Windows-based Visual Studio source code on Unix and Linux.
MainWin provides developers the ability to take advantage of
Microsoft technologies, including Windows DNA, on Unix.
This announcement underscores the commitment of both Microsoft and
Mainsoft to provide an application migration and interoperability solution
for Windows to Unix and other operating systems.
"We are excited to work closely with Mainsoft through the Visual Studio
Integration Program," said Robert Green, Visual Studio lead product
manager at Microsoft Corp. "MainWin provides a great Visual Studio
cross-platform solution and helps customers support their code on Unix and
Linux."
"Mainsoft's Windows platform for Unix is the best solution for companies who need to offer their Windows-based applications on other platforms.
MainWin is the preferred choice for software developers and corporate
IT groups," said Yaacov Cohen, president of Mainsoft. "We look forward
to our future collaborations with Microsoft to continue to provide the
cross-platform solution for Visual Studio and cross-platform support for
other Microsoft products."
About MainWin
MainWin is Mainsoft's Windows platform for Unix systems including Linux. MainWin
includes the implementation of Win32 APIs and Windows-based services on
Unix. Through strategic agreements with Microsoft, Mainsoft has access to
Windows NT- and Windows 2000-based source code. Mainsoft has incorporated
several million lines of original Windows-based source code into MainWin.
This ensures that applications developed with C, C++ and Dynamic HTML
for Windows will run on Unix as it does on Windows. To
date, the company has deployed more than one million end-user licenses of
MainWin. For example,
some of the leading business applications re-hosted to Unix and Linux with
MainWin include: Microsoft Internet Explorer; Microsoft Outlook Express;
Computer Associates' OpenRoad;
Alcatel's X-Vision Enterprise and Magic's Enterprise Edition V.8.
