Troubleshooting

Event logs

For advanced diagnostics of application errors, it is often helpful to inspect the event logs. The location of these logs depends on your operating system and which package of Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator you use.

The plug-in sidebar version of Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator logs all application events inside Lotus Notes’ trace logs. These can be accessed from the Lotus Notes menu: Help > Support > View Log and Help > Support > View Trace.

The standalone sidebar version of Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator logs all application events. To open the log file:

  1. From the application menu, select Help > About Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes.
  2. Click the Configuration Details button in the About dialog.
  3. Click the View Error Log button in the Configuration Details dialog.

Note: The level of trace messages can be set in the file C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\framework\rcp\eclipse\plugins\com.ibm.rcp.base_6.1.2.200802132253\rcpinstall.properties. The version number appended to the com.ibm.rcp.base_ folder varies depending on your Lotus Notes version. By editing the line .level=SEVERE, an appropriate trace level can be configured. .SEVERE indicates the lowest level of events that are recorded in the log. Valid values are FINE, INFO, WARNING, and SEVERE.

Connectivity

You can report connectivity issues with your Microsoft SharePoint site to Mainsoft support. Open File > Preferences…, and select the SharePoint category. Click Edit Site... or Add Site..., and then Test Connection. If a connection cannot be established, you may submit a problem report by clicking the Send Report button in the Failed to Connect dialog.
