Searching for People
Integration with social features is new in Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator 2.5.
Finding the right person can help you get things done quickly. With Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator you can search SharePoint profiles directly from Lotus Notes. Search by name or other SharePoint user profile details, such as skills, current projects, or title.
Note: The search mechanism is slightly different between the different versions of Lotus Notes. This topic explains how to search for people when working in the Standard Configuration on Lotus Notes 8.5.x. If you are using an earlier version of Lotus Notes, or are using the Basic Configuration in Notes 8.5.x, read the specifics at the end of this topic.
To search people with SharePoint Integrator:
-
In the Lotus Notes search area, select People on SharePoint.
-
Type a name or a profile detail and click the Search button.
-
Search results are displayed in a new tab in Notes, sorted by relevance as defined by SharePoint. To learn more about the displayed information, read Viewing people information. From the search results, you can search explicitly for common people fields.
Search specifics for earlier versions of Lotus Notes
To search for people on the social server using Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator with Lotus Notes 8.0.x and earlier:
- Click the sidebar toolbar search button to open the search bar.
- The leftmost icon on the search bar lets you set the search scope to Document or People. Click it and select People from the menu. Type a name or a profile detail and click the Search button.
- Search results are displayed in the sidebar panel. Double clicking on any of the people in the search results open a dialog with more information from the social server. To learn more about the displayed information read Viewing people information.
Notes:
- Phonetic name matching and nickname matching on SharePoint 2010 are not supported Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator.
- SharePoint Online sites do not support the people search feature.
- When the search Web service is unavailable for a SharePoint site, the search button is disabled. The most common reason for this is that anonymous access is enabled on SharePoint. For more information, read the Mainsoft knowledge base article How to enable the search button in Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator.
