Searching for Documents
SharePoint's document index lets you search for contents inside documents and document metadata. To search, do as follows:
In the SharePoint Integrator sidebar panel, click the toolbar search button to open the search bar.

Note: When the search Web service is unavailable for a SharePoint site, the search button is disabled. The most common reason for this is that anonymous access is enabled on SharePoint. For more information, read the Mainsoft knowledge base article How to enable the search button in Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator.Type a word or phrase to search for in the search bar. Documents with content or properties matching the search term will be retrieved.
Optionally, select search scope using the left drop-down menu: Documents on Site to search for content in the current site, or Document in Library to search for content in the current library (this option is only available if the current location is a library or folder).

-
Click the green Search button, to search the current SharePoint site or library for documents.
Search results are displayed in the sidebar's document list. The sidebar sorts the matching items in order of relevance, as defined by SharePoint.
You can use the Visible Columns dialog to determine which columns are displayed in the search results. By default, the Icon, Name, and Path of each search result item are shown. More information about configuring visible columns is available in the help topic Selecting visible columns.
When selecting an item from the search results, the search context pane displays the context from where, within the document, the search string was found. The status pane, below the context pane, shows you the breadcrumbs of where the selected item is located on the SharePoint server. To open the location where the search result item is found, click the breadcrumbs or select Open Containing Site/Library/Folder from the document context menu.
To return from the search results view to the previous SharePoint location, click the red Close button on the search bar.
Notes:
- If you configured in the Preferences to hide subsites and workspaces for the current site (see Adding and editing SharePoint sites), search results from subsites and workspaces are not displayed.
- To learn more about searching in SharePoint, read Search (Office SharePoint Server).
- In some cases the search results in SharePoint Integrator and SharePoint's web interface are slightly different. For more information, read the Mainsoft knowledge base article Differences in Search Results Using Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator vs. the Web Interface.
- SharePoint Integrator does not include documents from other peoples' My Sites in search results.
