Saving Attachments to SharePoint

To save an e-mail attachment in an incoming e-mail message from Lotus Notes to SharePoint, follow one of this methods:

  • Drag the attachment from the body of an e-mail message or the preview pane to SharePoint Integrator's sidebar panel, to upload it to the open location.
  • Use the SharePoint button to save attachments on SharePoint.

Saving attachments to SharePoint instantly shares the file with all other SharePoint users. Uploading attachments prompts the user the same way as when uploading other documents to SharePoint. To learn more about these prompts, read Uploading documents to SharePoint.

Using the SharePoint button to publish attachments

Note: The SharePoint button is an optional component. You can read more about the features it provides, and how to install it, in Working with e-mail.

To upload attachments using the SharePoint button:

  1. Select Save attachments from the SharePoint button in the action bar for a Lotus Notes message.
  2. If a default location is not defined, the Select Location dialog opens, and lets you browse for the SharePoint location to which you want to save the attachments:

The Select Location dialog lets you select the SharePoint location to which the attachments are uploaded.
    • Use the treeview to browse for a location.
    • The treeview lists all configured sites. Click the Add Site button to add a new SharePoint site.
    • Click the New Folder button to create a new folder on SharePoint.
    • Click Save as the default location if you want the selected location to be used in future upload sessions.
  3. The Save Attachments dialog opens and lets you select which attachments to upload to SharePoint.

  4. The Save Attachments dialog lets you select which attachments to upload to SharePoint.

  5. The upload process begins, and is indicated by a progress bar. You can stop the upload process by clicking the red square to the right.

  6. Upload progress bar.

Note: You can override the default SharePoint location for uploading attachments for a specific e-mail message using the SharePoint button’s Change attachments target location command.

Setting e-mail preferences

To set the default location in which e-mail attachments are saved, open File > Preferences and select SharePoint > E-mail Settings. The following dialog appears:

In Preferences you can set the default location on SharePoint to save attachments.

Default SharePoint location for saving attachments

Click the Browse button to browse through the configured SharePoint sites and select a default location to where attachments are uploaded. If you do not see the SharePoint site that you want to select, click the Add Site button to add it. Click the New Folder button to create a new SharePoint folder.

Click the Clear button to clear the current default location.

By hovering the mouse pointer over the breadcrumbs of the target location, a tooltip appears revealing the URL.

Note: When composing e-mail messages, you can also use the SharePoint button for replacing attachments with SharePoint links.
