Viewing People Information

Integration with social features is new in Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator 2.5.

People information from the social server is available in Lotus Notes when searching for people on SharePoint, and when viewing a SharePoint document, e-mail message, or calendar event.

People information includes the SharePoint user profile, links to the user's personal site, and Sametime presence awareness.

People information is available for any of the following active contexts in Lotus Notes:

  • Select a document in the SharePoint sidebar panel. The user information from the visible columns that include a user (Modified By, Created By, or Checked Out To), are displayed in the people information pane.
  • Select an e-mail message in Lotus Notes. The sender and recipients are displayed in the people information pane. Your own name is automatically filtered out.
  • Select a Notes or a SharePoint event. The information for the people in the event chair, required, optional, and FYI fields are displayed in the people information pane.
Note: The standalone version of Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator does not show people information for active items in Lotus Notes.

The people information pane

The people information pane shows details for people associated with the active context in Lotus Notes.

The people information pane is found below the documents list in the sidebar panel. An arrow to the right of the name in the people pane indicates that multiple people are associated with the active item. You can select a different person from a list by clicking the name. The size of the people information pane is set by dragging the splitter at the top of the pane or using the icons in the upper right corner. The people information pane contains the following information for a person:

  • Picture, Name, Job Title and Department, E-Mail Address and Phone Number. To send a message to the user, click the e-mail address.
  • Sametime presence awareness and status message, if logged in to Sametime in the Lotus Notes client. Start a Sametime chat or call with this person by right-clicking the Sametime message. The standalone edition of Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator does not show Sametime integration.
  • Additional information from the user profile on the SharePoint social server, including the sections About Me, Skills, Ask Me About and Interests.
  • A links bar at the bottom of the pane, linking to:
    • Profile opens the person's SharePoint profile in the configured Web browser.
    • Sites and Blog opens the sites and workspaces view for the user in the web browser. If the user has set up a blog, it is visible on this web page. This link appears if this person defined sites and blog in his My Site.
    • Documents show the document libraries from the user’s My Site in the SharePoint sidebar. This link appears only if this person defined a personal site.
    • The blue plus icon adds the user’s My Site to the list of SharePoint sites in Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator. This link appears only if this person defined a personal site.
Notes:
  • A social networking server must be configured to view the people information pane.
  • Showing people information for the active item in Lotus Notes requires that the SharePoint search service is running. People in the active Notes item and the active sidebar document are matched with profiles on the SharePoint social server using e-mail address. If the current site in the sidebar is on the social server, users are looked up using their account name.

Hiding people information

If you do not want to view people information in the SharePoint Integrator sidebar panel, you can disable it:

  1. From the application menu, select File > Preferences > SharePoint.
  2. In the Social Server group, unselect Show people information in the sidebar.
