Mainsoft, Portal Edition, enables enterprise IT to build a front-end to your Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), with equal access to .NET and Java services. Enterprises expand the reach of existing development staff by enabling them to use existing Microsoft® development tools and skills to create custom portlets for WebSphere® Portal. These applications behave exactly the same way as any Java portlet running on the portal - delivering the same look and feel, unified navigation, single sign on, and ability to participate in Interportlet Communications and composite applications.

Customers

Customers such as Healthways, Opal Future Technologies, and RJS Software have used their enterprise .NET developers to rapidly implement a front-end SOA, including .NET and Java applications, significantly faster than rewriting ASP.NET applications in Java.

Enabling technology

Unlike remoting solutions, Mainsoft's Portal Edition enables ASP.NET applications to run locally on WebSphere Portal as pure JSR 168 portlets. Mainsoft's patented cross-compilation technology compiles .NET source code to Java bytecode. Runtime extensions support the .NET code on WebSphere Portal. And, Mainsoft's Visual Studio®-based SDK makes it easy for .NET developers to quickly develop and maintain .NET applications using their preferred development tools.

Mainsoft is Optimized for Visual Studio and has been validated by IBM as ServerProven and Ready for WebSphere Software.

A study completed in IBM's Innovation Labs demonstrates that .NET applications cross compiled to Java bytecode using Mainsoft performs just as well as the original .NET application.

Pricing

Mainsoft, Portal Edition, is licensed per developer and per deployed CPU. It costs $20,000 per CPU and $6,000 per developer seat, including first year of support and maintenance. Standard support and maintenance for following years is 20% of the annual license fee. Volume discounts, as well as Mainframe pricing, are available.
