Mainsoft announces support for JBoss application server
Visual MainWin accelerates J2EE development, benefiting JBoss customers
JavaOne, San Francisco, CA - June 28, 2004 - Mainsoft®
Corporation, the cross-platform development company, today announced that
Visual MainWin for the J2EETM
platform v1.2 now supports the JBoss®
Application Server. Visual MainWin resolves the .NET/J2EE platform divide by
bringing C# and Visual Basic .NET®
to the J2EE platform, enhancing productivity and application development
flexibility. Visual MainWin accelerates J2EE development by enabling Java and
.NET development teams to co-develop J2EE Web applications and Web services for
one of the market's fastest-growing application servers.
"JBoss and Mainsoft share a strong commitment to
making it possible for developers to work closely in the environment of their
choice," said Marc Fleury, president and CEO of JBoss, Inc. "Collaborative
.NET/J2EE development can lead to greater efficiencies, more creativity and
faster time-to-market. Mainsoft's support for the JBoss Application Server will
help our customers improve development productivity and, most importantly,
realize key business objectives."
The Technology Solution
Visual MainWin introduces a patent-pending technology
that compiles the Microsoft®
Intermediate Language (MSIL) source code directly into standard Java bytecode,
enabling .NET and Java teams to co-develop multi-tiered applications. Visual
Basic .NET and C# developers can rapidly create the ASP.NET front-end of an
application using Visual Studio .NET, while Java developers use any standard
J2EE development tool to provide the back-end business logic as J2EE
components.
From Visual Studio.NET, developers access the J2EE components such as EJBs and
debug the entire application across C#, Visual Basic .NET and Java languages,
enabling a tight collaboration between the .NET and Java teams. Because both
development teams continue to use their preferred development tools, there is
no need to retrain developers, keeping development costs down.
"Working with JBoss underscores Mainsoft's commitment to provide customers with
the flexibility to develop Web Application and Web services for their J2EE
platform of choice using the productivity of ASP.NET and Visual Studio .NET
development software," said Philippe Cohen, vice president, products for
Mainsoft.
Visual MainWin 1.2 supports JBoss, IBM WebSphere 5.1, BEA Weblogic 8.1 and
Tomcat 5.0.
