Mainsoft's Visual MainWin for J2EE accelerates application development for
Ingres r3 on Linux
caworld attendees first to preview ASP.NET for Linux
CAWORLD, LAS VEGAS - May 24, 2004 - Mainsoft®
Corporation, the cross-platform development company, today announced it has
extended its partnership with Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA),
enabling ASP.NET developers to deploy applications with Advantage Ingres r3 on
Linux. With Visual MainWin® for J2EETM,
enterprise customers can use .NET development tools and skills to create Linux®
-based Web applications and Web services for Tomcat and CA's Advantage Ingres
r3, dramatically reducing development costs, time-to-benefit and total cost of
ownership.
Since 1998, Mainsoft has been a partner with CA in delivering solutions on
multiple UNIX platforms.
"Mainsoft's Visual MainWin is an innovative solution for CA enterprise
customers to extend their Visual Studio development investment." said Durwin
Wright, Vice President of Development, CA. "Our customers now have the
flexibility of open-source platform exploitation with Linux and Tomcat, the
scalability of Advantage Ingres r3, and the productivity of Visual Studio .NET®
and ASP.NET."
Often Microsoft's development community cannot effectively exploit the J2EE
open source platform, due to the development cost of re-training resources in
another paradigm. Visual MainWin reduces development costs and the total cost
of ownership significantly by enabling C# and Visual Basic® .NET
developers to rapidly develop Web applications and Web services for Tomcat
using ASP.NET and Microsoft's Visual Studio®
.NET development software.
"We welcome the opportunity to help Advantage Ingres
r3 customers accelerate Linux application development initiatives and further
reduce costs and complexities," said Yaacov Cohen, President and CEO of
Mainsoft Corporation. "With Visual MainWin, IT organizations can accelerate
their open-source development using Visual Studio .NET."
