Working with instant messaging
Mainsoft Document Collaboration for Rational Jazz supplies presence awareness in the Documents view, using the IBM Lotus Sametime, Google Talk, or Jabber protocol. Columns that include user names (for example: Created By, Modified By, and Checked Out To) are presented with presence status (Active, Away, Do Not Disturb, or Offline). From the instant messaging label, you can start an instant messaging chat with other users on the Document Site. The chat window lets you send document links by dragging them from the Documents view. To send a document link to your chat partner, hold the Ctrl key when you start to drag the document. Right-clicking on the username in the Documents view gives quick access to all instant messaging-related features.

If you encounter a resolving error, refer to your system administrator for help.

Note: You must be logged in and connected to your instant messaging server via Rational Team Concert for this feature to work. Only Jazz users who have configured Instant Messaging in the Rational Team Concert Client will be visible to you by presence awareness. More details about how to configure Jazz with instant messaging is available here.
Note: Sending documents inside a Sametime chat window only works if that feature is enabled by the Sametime administrator.
Document Collaboration for Rational Jazz maps Document Site users to Jazz users in the order below:
- By internet e-mail address: if the Document Site user's e-mail address is equal to a Jazz user's E-Mail, a match is made.
- By case-sensitive user name: if the Document Site user's user name (without domain) is equal to a Jazz user's User ID, a match is made.
- By case-insensitive user name: if the Document Site user's user name (without domain) is equal to a Jazz user's User ID, a match is made.
If you encounter a resolving error, refer to your system administrator for help.
