Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes | Release Notes

Mainsoft® SharePoint® Integrator for Lotus Notes® version 2.0.3 is now available. The plug-in for Lotus Notes enables users to manage and share e-mail messages and documents on SharePoint from a Lotus Notes sidebar.

System requirements

  • IBM® Lotus Notes 6.5.x, 7.x, or 8.x.
  • SharePoint calendar integration is supported only in Lotus Notes 8.5.x Standard Configuration, and requires the Notes 8.5 Mail template.
  • Microsoft® Windows. See supported versions in Detailed system requirements for Lotus Notes.
  • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) version 3.0, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, or Microsoft SharePoint Online.

Installation instructions

Installing the integrated sidebar for Lotus Notes 8.x (Standard Configuration)

  1. Download the Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes plug-in NSF file.
  2. Open the plug-in NSF file (double-click) and follow instructions provided by the installation wizard.
  3. (Optional) Install the Mainsoft Mail template. Instructions are available in the Mainsoft knowledge base article Installing the Mainsoft Mail template to activate the SharePoint button.

Installing the standalone application for Lotus Notes version 6.5.x, 7.x, and 8.x (Basic Configuration)

  1. Download the standalone sidebar installer executable.
  2. Run the installer executable file and follow the installation wizard instructions.
  3. (Optional) Install the Mainsoft Mail template. Instructions are available in the Mainsoft knowledge base article Installing the Mainsoft Mail template to activate the SharePoint button.

Upgrading from previous versions

Installing version 2.0.3 on top of a previous version will upgrade the installation.

Note: When upgrading from earlier versions than 2.0, proxy settings for Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator are removed, so you will need to re-configure them.

Upgrading the integrated sidebar for Lotus Notes 8.x (Standard Configuration)

  1. Download the Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes plug-in NSF file.
  2. Copy the NSF file to the Lotus Notes local application folder. The path to the local application folder can be retrieved by selecting File > Preferences... in Lotus Notes and clicking the Basic Notes Client Configuration node. The path to where the NSF file should be copied is listed as Local application folder.
  3. Open the plug-in NSF file from the File > Open > Lotus Notes Application... application menu in Lotus Notes and follow instructions provided by the installation wizard.
  4. Upgrade the Mainsoft Mail template, if it is being used. Instructions are available in the Mainsoft knowledge base article Installing the Mainsoft Mail template to activate the SharePoint button.

Upgrading the standalone application for Lotus Notes version 6.5.x, 7.x, and 8.x (Basic Configuration)

  1. Download the standalone sidebar installer executable.

Getting started

Registering SharePoint sites

To register the SharePoint sites that you want to access from Lotus Notes, click the blue plus button in the sidebar’s drop-down menu:

  1. In the Add SharePoint Site dialog, supply the SharePoint site URL, and a user name and password that will be used to access the site.
  2. Click the Test Connection button to verify that the connection works.

Integrating SharePoint calendars in Lotus Notes

To access SharePoint calendar events directly from Lotus Notes using Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator, add a SharePoint calendar:

  1. Open the Calendar application in Lotus Notes 8.5.
  2. Click the Test Connection button to verify that the connection works.
  3. Expand Show Calendars in the left-side pane, and click Add a Calendar.
  4. Select SharePoint Calendar from the list of calendar types.
  5. Click the Lookup... button and browse to a calendar from any of the registered SharePoint sites.
