Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes | Features
SharePoint-Lotus integration promotes SharePoint adoption among Lotus Notes users.
Mainsoft SharePoint® Integrator for Lotus Notes® integrates SharePoint into business users' day-to-day work environment. Users can:
- Access and publish documents on SharePoint, directly from a Lotus Notes sidebar.
- Collaborate on documents using Lotus Sametime.
- Send document links rather than documents, eliminating version control issues and reducing email storage.
- Publish Lotus Notes emails on SharePoint to share correspondence and to facilitate compliance.
- Quickly learn to work within a well-structured SharePoint taxonomy.
- Tap into an enterprise social network on SharePoint to boost communication and collaboration with co-workers.
- Manage SharePoint events in the Lotus Notes 8.5 calendar, simplifying time management for team and personal commitments.
Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator also provides enterprise IT benefits. A collaboration log can measure the impact that email integration with SharePoint has on mainstream user adoption. In addition, save email storage costs by promoting the use of document links in outgoing emails.
Note: For enterprises migrating to Microsoft® Outlook®, the next Beta release of Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator will provide the same easy access to SharePoint for managing and sharing emails and documents from an Outlook sidebar.

Realtime document collaboration

Publish emails on SharePoint sites
Searching through an Inbox for emails related to a document or project is time consuming, and users can't access team emails unless they've been copied on them. A convenient solution for sharing correspondence and for compliance is to store project emails alongside project documents in SharePoint.
Publish Lotus Notes emails and document attachments on SharePoint using drag‐and‐drop operations or a Save‐to‐SharePoint button in Lotus Notes emails. Email headers and metadata are captured automatically as they’re uploaded. Users can fill in custom document fields from Lotus Notes.
In SharePoint, view, sort, and retrieve documents using Lotus Notes email headers such as "From", "Date", or "Subject".
Access email stored on SharePoint. View team emails and use the Lotus Notes to format, edit, and forward them, regardless of whether the user received the emails directly. Extranet users can view Lotus Notes emails from a browser, with the document attachments stored as embedded documents.
SharePoint social features in NotesPreview
Available in Q2, the beta release of SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes 2.5 will support the SharePoint-based professional network, making it easy for Lotus Notes users to search for and connect with the people they work with. Social features require MOSS 2007 or SharePoint 2010.
Find people based on their skills, experience, or expertise, directly from Lotus Notes. With SharePoint Profiles, users can search for colleagues across the entire organization using data imported from and synchronized with Active Directory and other corporate directories.
Learn more about co-workers. Access a business card from the SharePoint social network by hovering over a username in a Notes applications, such as Mail and Calendar. The business card provides fast information about the user's contact details, social network activities, and background.
My Site integration with the sidebar makes it easy to work on documents stored on the user's SharePoint site. Users can also open colleagues' My Sites from their business cards.
The production release of SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes v2.5 will support additional social features, including tag cloud search, document tags and notes boards, and the ability to add colleagues to follow their social activities and edits.
Manage SharePoint appointments in Lotus Notes
Managing separate team and personal calendars is time‐consuming and prone to errors, such as double‐booked times and missed appointments. Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator makes it easy to manage SharePoint team meetings in an integrated Lotus Notes 8.5 calendar view. Similar to the SharePoint integration features offered by Microsoft® Outlook®, Notes users now have the ability to view, edit, add, and delete SharePoint team events from Lotus Notes; invite people to team events; as well as view SharePoint team events when offline. Future releases will also support mobile devices.
View SharePoint team events in Lotus Notes. Calendar appointments are color‐coded, so users can easily identify team meetings.
Access and update SharePoint team events from Lotus Notes. Edit event details, delete an existing team event, or create new ones. This information is automatically copied to SharePoint, ensuring team calendars are kept up-to-date without requiring the user to enter calendar information twice.
Invite people to attend a team event. Invitees can either be team members or anyone else you want to include.
Enterprise IT Benefits
Collaboration Log
Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator tracks SharePoint operations from a Lotus Notes sidebar. In combination with SharePoint IIS logs and Domino email logs, SharePoint Integrator usage reports can be used to measure:
- The increase in the number of users who manage documents, emails, and team calendars on SharePoint.
- The increase in total documents, emails, and team calendars on SharePoint.
- How often users access SharePoint using Lotus Notes versus a Web browser.
- The increase in document links sent by email, and the reduction in email traffic that results.
Save email storage costs
Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator reduces email storage costs by promoting the use of document links in outgoing emails.
Use the Save attachments to SharePoint and send links button to publish an attachment in SharePoint and send an embedded link instead.
The Lotus Notes administrator can provision this button’s default setting, either prompting the user to save attachments on SharePoint, or saving all/no outgoing email attachments on SharePoint and sending links in their place.
