American Water, (NYSE:AWK), the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, plans to deploy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server to more than half of its 7,000 employees working in 32 states and Ontario, Canada to streamline and enforce document approvals; facilitate document sharing; and reduce document storage costs.
"We're in the process of upgrading to Lotus Notes 8.5.1 and piloting Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator in order to bring SharePoint into users' daily work environment. The combination will allow us to promote SharePoint adoption and our unified communications and collaboration strategy while preserving our IT investments in Notes, Sametime, and SharePoint."
– Steve Brescia, Enterprise Architect, American Water
Champion Solutions Group, a premier technology solutions provider and long-time Lotus Notes/Domino customer, is implementing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server to deliver Web-based document management, team sites, and integration with back-end Microsoft SQL-based applications. The company is using Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes to integrate SharePoint with Lotus Notes and Sametime.
"We already have a unified communications infrastructure in place that's fully integrated with our business processes, and we don't see a compelling reason to migrate to a single vendor in order to unify messaging and collaboration platforms. Mainsoft offers the practical integration path we need to support our end users' preferred platforms while preserving our existing IT investments."
– Bill Phelps, CTO, Champion Solutions Group
DAI, an international development company, is a long-time Lotus Notes customer upgrading to Lotus Notes 8.5.1. Two years ago, the company deployed Office SharePoint Server for its corporate document sharing and collaboration portal. However SharePoint has not been as universally adopted as hoped.
"We're investing in Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator to make it as easy as possible for our users to upload email attachments on SharePoint, as well as share document links as part of the collaboration process…. We expect a notable increase in SharePoint use in the next twelve months."
– Steve Mullen, Director of Information Technology, DAI
The French Banking Federation, a professional organization representing 450 commercial, cooperative, and mutual banks operating in France, recently deployed Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) to speed the development of policy-related documents. The organization purchased Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator to accelerate SharePoint adoption and enable its employees to publish, classify, and archive email dialogues within the context of the documents they relate to.
"Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes enables our team to collaborate more efficiently on the documents, and with a high degree of confidence they have all relevant correspondence at their fingertips."
– Frédéric Guinet, Secretariat General Informatique, Federal Banking Federation
Kawasaki Robotics, a leading supplier of industrial robots and automation systems and a Lotus Notes 8.5 customer, plans to replace its document sharing and archiving system, consisting of massive hard copy binders, with team collaboration sites based on Windows SharePoint Services.
"We selected Windows SharePoint Services because it comes bundled with MS Dynamics and Microsoft Business Portal Software, which we're using for accounting, enterprise resource planning, and inventory management. By integrating Lotus Notes with SharePoint, as well as our Lotus Sametime-based unified communications platform, we can meet all document collaboration and communication needs in a single application."
– Scott Marchione, Applications Developer, Kawasaki Robotics
In 2006, Louis Dreyfus Commodities, one of the world's leading commodity merchants and processors of agricultural products, deployed Office SharePoint Server to facilitate document collaboration and file sharing, as well as enhance business process auditability and controls using forms and document workflows.
"One of the biggest complaints we hear about SharePoint is that it can be cumbersome to use. Our users spend a large part of their workday in Lotus Notes, and they want an easy way to store attachments and access documents on SharePoint. The time it takes to save each attachment onto the desktop as an intermediary to move to a team site discourages people from using team sites... We anticipate a significant increase in SharePoint use as the company deploys Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator and upgrades our 1200 IT users to Lotus Notes 8.5."
– Michael Bucciero, Business Solutions Manager for Louis Dreyfus Commodities North America
Manhattan Home Finance, LLC
Manhattan Home Finance, a mortgage banker specializing in residential mortgage financing, deployed Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator to access SharePoint document libraries from within their Lotus Notes 6.5 installation.
"Every time we transferred files between Notes and SharePoint, we first had to log into SharePoint and save documents to the desktop. What we needed was a one-step, drag-and-drop process, which Mainsoft delivers. Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator is an excellent product. Our team uses it every day."
– Nader Chahine, Branch Manager, Manhattan Home Finance
Tennessee-based National Banker's Trust, a financial services company specializing in factoring receivables for the trucking industry, is rebuilding its Intranet and client-facing portal sites using Lotus Notes 8.5 and Lotus Domino. In addition, the IT team is using Windows SharePoint Services to collaborate and share project-related documents.
"We purchased Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator to enable the IT team to build complete project records, by storing emails along with project documents; set up and manage our SharePoint-based team calendar from Lotus Notes, and make SharePoint easy-to-use, all around. Once the IT team demonstrates the productivity impacts of integrating their messaging and collaboration tools into a single platform, the company plans to deploy Lotus Notes 8.5 and SharePoint company-wide."
– Ashleigh Carter, Information Technology Business Analyst, National Bankers
Oiltanking, a world-leading independent storage partner for oils, chemicals, and gases, is using Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator to integrate its SharePoint-based IT documentation system with Lotus Notes 8.
"Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator allows our IT staff to use SharePoint as a document management tool for collaborating with consultants on IT projects and systems. We look forward to future releases that will allow calendar and task integration."
– Mike Overhoff, IT Manager, Americas for Oiltanking
William A. Hazel, Inc., a site development contractor headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, deployed Office SharePoint Server to enable its employees to share project documents.
"We deployed Office SharePoint Server to give our project teams a central repository for storing and retrieving documents. Unfortunately, our SharePoint sites remained empty while some of our project managers' email boxes ballooned to some 50 gigabytes.
"Today, our team uses Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator to publish and retrieve emails and documents on SharePoint, as we had intended. Long-term, we expect to save on Domino storage costs as our team saves emails on SharePoint and uses document links rather than CC'ing the full project team."
– Ken Holsopple, Senior Network Administrator, William A. Hazel, Inc.
